How Do We Partner
There are multiple ways to partner and/or align private sector efforts with those of the UN.
- Strategic Partnerships: Formal global or multinational collaboration between the UN and multinational companies, associations, universities, civil society organizations to leverage their resources, reach, advocacy, and multi-regional presence.
- Shared Value Partnerships (SVPs): Formal or informal partnerships between the UN and the private sector that adds strategic, mutual value by aligning business and development interests.
- Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs): Formal tripartite engagement between the UN and both public and private entities to maximize impact, alignment, access, and resource mobilization.
- Multi-Stakeholder Platforms: Formal or informal convening mechanisms that bring together business, government, and civil society to address development issues collectively.
- Bilateral Collaborations: Direct formal or informal partnerships with individual companies or organizations to support specific programs or initiatives.
- Sectoral-Level Engagement: Working across all stakeholders of an entire sector, involving hundreds of businesses – from micro and small enterprises to large multinational corporations – along entire value chains in both the formal and informal sectors.
With decades of global experience, the UN’s Toolkit is robust and built to support the shared goals of the UN and its partners.
